The beautiful during the past two days, the weather near perfect and some of us are suffering from spring fever while others simply struggling with pollen levels. This time of year reminds me that summer is coming and things are about to slow down - networks. I would like to take a moment and discuss this trend and what I believe may be the cause of it.
We will begin in the fall. At this time of year and we are working feverishly in an attempt to buy the new business because we realize that the things around the holidays will slow down. Approach in December, and some of us worry about things like parties and shopping and our attention turns from building our business. Others are more difficult to make contact as people begin long vacations.
Then spend the holidays. We put our marketing and communication efforts on high alert, and go to meetings several times a week, in an attempt to get things cranked again. The result is increased business and increase profits. Have you noticed that in the first part of February that things begin to pick up almost at a maddening pace? When this happens, unless we are prepared for growth, we start to back off from our offerings and we scramble to complete the work that has been generated by our marketing efforts.
In fact, we stop networking. Lose contact with those we have done and ask for a referral, and it began to feel as if we are not interested in any of them anymore. When this happens, you may look for someone else to indicate when the target this possibility comes along.
In the early to mid-summer, we started to crawl out from under the burden of work and look again for opportunities. Unfortunately, leaves began again as children are released from school for the summer. Thus, it is extremely difficult to once again to find the contacts that were there before our business picked up late last winter.
In mid-August, and the school is back in session and people are returning to the world networks again. Of course, we see some of the same people who were there before, but there are also many new faces as well. Because we had slacked off from our promotional efforts, we were not there to greet new faces as they started new business. Even people who have a balanced marketing strategy there to receive them.
These are the people who have businesses that seems to be growing. Have a marketing plan and communicate that lasts throughout the year consistent. When many of the companies that have achieved the peak of new jobs in the spring, these business owners are ready to absorb the new business with new employees or temporary staff. They realize that to maintain growth means to be ready for the recovery of the economy that can drive their business to the next level.
How do we achieve that? First plan for growth. Have a system ready for when you have more business than you can handle so that there is help you can contact him. It manages this by building relationships with temporary agencies, headhunters and recruitment firms. Hiring people on the basis of the contractor when necessary. This saves money on benefits and salaries are the same when a little slower. It also reduces the amount of paperwork when it comes to payroll processing and taxes.
Next, develop a plan to continue this is manageable. Set a goal for the amount of attending meetings when business is just OK and stick to it when it gets better business. Attend functions all year round, even during the holiday periods.
Plan a vacation if necessary, but do not assume that everyone is going on vacation simply because it is summer. Most people have to accommodate others and tables entire companies usually do not go on vacation at the same time. The lesson here is that if you want to become a large company, take a look at what the big companies. Imitate them if they are successful, you may be able to repeat its success.
