Whether you are an introvert or extrovert, I think you have a flair for gossip or do not know how to make small talk, networking know-how. Is very important for the success of your business, there is the idea in business and I think most of us subscribe to that says "all things being equal, people will cope with the business and return to those who know, like and trust. "The key to being able clearly to develop relationships.
Think networks such as the cultivation of mutually beneficial win-win relationships. To be profitable for both parties, there must be give and take (note the emphasis on the gift). Should not be considered as a network "events", where you will sell your company. Involved parties when effective communication is to exchange ideas and information actively and resources, etc..
OK, so you know there must be communication , as it is one of the most profitable lead generation activities when used wisely, appropriately and professionally. However, it may seem easier said than done. Here is a 7 step plan to get really networking for your business.
1. Check several groups to find the best chemistry and perceived value. most groups will allow you to visit a few times before you have to join. Go ask around to find out why others have joined and what value that comes from belonging.
Resist the urge to just go to join the Chamber of Commerce simply because everyone tells you that this is what you should do. If this is not where they can find the target group, you could be a big waste of time (and money).
I am not telling you not to join the room. Just to be clear about what you want out of this or any other group. If it is to find potential clients or referral sources, then you will be networking where you can find these resources.
2. When you find a group or two, and to join and all meetings as possible. Do not just go once or twice to wait for things to happen and then if they do not quit. And build mutually beneficial relationships and gain some time.
Contacts initiated by the need to constantly see your face and hear your message. Will be in constant contact with other on-time jobs open for you to go further and learn more about the ideas of each other and the ideas and capabilities with regard to them your business.
Know, like and trust usually occurs only with the passage of time. Will be regular and continuous work.
3. Commitment - to be clear Do as much as you can to make yourself more visible within the organization. Volunteered to help at meetings, and be on committees, or become a member or leader of the panel.
Participation to a few things you and your business. First, you will have more opportunities to build relationships and identify some of the contacts that you do best. Second, the high visibility you have in your group, the less you have to work to make new contacts. Instead, because people come in the new group, and will probably pick you up because they see you as a leader within the organization.
4. Departments keep contacts informed. Do not assume that only work in person once a month (or even once a week) will get them to start working with you or send it your way. You need to know what happens when you're not in this particular group to inform and educate.
Send them invitations to special events or your open houses. Send them messages or e-mail to share the big news or success stories, especially anything related to them or those in their networks of contacts. If you think you have valuable ideas, information and resources to share with others, then it is not only a sense?
5. Work to enable referrals and exchange of valuable information. This is true, and you are ready to give before you get. This means that you need to get to know other members and what makes a good opportunity for them. What are the types of information that you have access to that could be useful for them?
You may think at first you do not have a lot of value to share with others (with your company and what you offer). Some of the key to getting good to give is to not make assumptions. For example, do not assume that some of the basic resources (eg a website) that you know, is no stranger to someone who can talk to just because they are "experts" in this area. Be prepared to ask if they know about resources, and are willing to share if they do not.
Want to learn how giving references? Here's a simple question to ask someone that you are connected with. "How will I know when I met a really good prospect for you?"
Only the fact that you are ready to give a lift to explore your know, like and trust factor.
6. Focus on quality, not quantity, quantity, quantity. This is not necessarily the number of connections you make, but the quality of those who do not. Are mutually beneficial and win-win relationships?
And quality of communication can be identified because all parties involved and will actively exchange ideas and information and resources. Yes, it is true that you need to spend some time and effort and to identify the person (s) and what is important to them. But, as you need to be clear thinking and actively looking for information or resources you want and need.
And keep in touch with and follow up with a smaller number of quality relationships tend to be more productive than trying to follow a large number of contacts a surface.
7. Be persistent, but be patient. The purpose of this networking event need not be leaving with expectations every time you go out, but come away with excellent connections. Networks usually takes time for relationships developed and nurtured.
No network approach and propose a frightening or a necessary evil to be in business. Relieve pressure on yourself and really focus on how you may be able to connect with someone you meet. Focus on them first and look for ways to be helpful. As you become known as the connector, you must be at the end of the day ready to reap what you sow.
